A note from the owner:

“May I just say how excited and energized I feel embarking on this journey! I started in Musical Theater, earning a Bachelor of Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. Performing with the New York Philharmonic, under the direction of Lorin Maazel, I got the feel of what it meant to be transformed by music. I moved to New York City and began performing in Off-Broaway productions, such as He’s Not Himself, (nominated for best actress in the New York Theater Festival), Kate in “Kiss Me Kate”, “Starting Here, Starting Now”, at the 47th Street Black Box Theater, and attending classes as often as I could including direction and master classes at The New School for Drama. But this wasn’t my heart.

During my 8 years in New York, I slowly realized how drawn I was to teaching. I worked my way up to become Musical Director for over 25 children’s theater productions with Theater West 97th including the work and creation of student-written and performed shows. I traveled to Uganda, Africa to teach music theory curriculum, yoga, and voice pedagogy for students in Africa with disabilities. I fell in love.

I began to see the power of musical education and the immense depth with which music can reach. As soon as I returned to the states, I enrolled in a dual graduate program at the Metropolitan College of New York in General Education and Special Education. I taught for year in both private and public settings before moving to Oregon to raise a family.

Now, teaching in West-Linn Wilsonville School District, I am motivated every day by the kind, intuitive, and genuinely connected community these students naturally create.

The time is now to push past what we know to be 'expected’, and move into the lens that our children provide for us. Inclusion is not a model or style of education; it is a human right. Our voices change the ‘should nots’ to an empowered and beautiful chorus of ‘should’.

It’s time we redefined the ‘should’. Come join our play!”

As a native of Washington State, Laura Cantwell found her love of performing early on by having been cast in various stage productions throughout her elementary, middle, and high school career. After graduation, she moved to the East Coast to attend Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ earning a B.M. in Musical Theater. During her time at WCC, she had the honor of singing with the New York Philharmonic as well as the Philadelphia Orchestra on numerous occasions. From there, Laura was cast in several regional theater productions such as  Wizard of Oz and  A  Christmas Carol.   While keeping busy and developing her own craft, Laura decided she wanted to help others refine their talent and opened a successful voice, dance, and acting school - VoiceWorks LLC. Through Laura’s dedication, creative eye, and strong leadership, VoiceWorks put on several shows such as  Legally Blonde  and  Seussical  in the highly esteemed George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ. Now, back on the west coast, Laura has expanded her studio to the L.A. area. Along with teaching, she has continued acting in musicals and in films. Last summer she originated the role of Evangeline in Healing Retreat: a Life of Joy where she had the honor of taking the show to NYC. Her most recent film is coming out soon - Badland - including an all-star cast under the direction of Star-Wars co-director,
